About the Therapist

Hello and welcome. I'm Emmy, a queer and neurodivergent clinical social worker. I have over 5 years of experience and focus on trauma recovery, sexual assault survivors, and childhood trauma, as well as the general difficulties of life, depression and anxiety. My approach is grounded in experiential therapy techniques, which allow clients to engage with their experiences on both emotional and physical levels, moving beyond intellectual understanding.

My background as a social worker enables me to consider the various systems of oppression that impact mental health and well-being. I employ a feminist, anti-racist, queer rights, and fat liberation framework to ensure that all aspects of identity and systemic influence are acknowledged in our work together.

In addition to my professional experience, I am a mother and stepmother, which

enriches my understanding of diverse family dynamics and personal growth. I am passionate about creating a safe, inclusive space where clients can explore their experiences andheal in a way that is both affirming and empowering.

Your journey towards healing is unique, and I am here to support you every step of the way.

Why "Iris Therapy"?

Iris Therapy is named after Iris, the Greek mythology goddess who used rainbows to send messages across the worlds. I chose the name Iris to honor mine and many of my clients' queerness in my practice and my commitment to fostering open, affirming dialogue between therapist and client. I believe that the quality of our lives is dependent on the quality of our connections- connection to ourselves, connection to others, and connection to our world.
